Cherry Tree is a free, and open-source application for Windows platform available in both 32-bit and 64-bit versions. It allows a user to manage, edit, and take notes in a quick and easy manner. Its main feature is the Wiki-like hierarchical note taking ability that lets a use organize their notes, bookmarks, source codes and other personal information. The information is stored in a database for quick access. Cherry Tree uses eXtensible Markup Language (XML) as its choice of data storage. XML is an open and web standard that allows a user to mask heterogeneity when interacting across multiple platforms. Cherry Tree stores a large range of source code including Java, JavaScript, LaTeX, ASP, C, Pascal, Perl, PHP, and others. It enables syntax highlighting, syntax coloring, paragraph formatting, indentation, and alignment. It can also place images, tables, numbered and bulleted lists. It can also insert codebox and manage it.

Cherry Tree allows a user to take notes and store source codes. It can store source codes of Java, C, PHP, JavaScript, LaTeX, Pascal, Perl, ASP, etc. The software can also let a user edit code and notes. It can be used to define hyperlinks as well. Hyperlinks point to web pages, websites, nodes, and even files on the computer or the network.
Print, Export, Import and Search:
This software can print and export notes into PDF format. It allows organizing the structure of nodes and search them using regular expression. Searching based on regex is smarter and faster than brute-force searching. Searching could also be used to replace text strings in the notes, or in the names of the notes. It can also import data from notecase, Tuxcards, Basket, and Keepnote notebooks.
GUI:
The GUI is simple and fast. It is customizable for the users needs as well and has an intuitive interface. The product has an Undo function that lets a use reverse the text typed. It supports editing a table as well as importing or exporting a CSV file. CSV files are Comma Separated Value, files. It can wrap lines, auto-save changes and is also available in multiple languages. It can edit LaTeX documents as well as PHP files, and XML documents. It can save mages as PNG.
